Late July at White Lake in Warren County, NJ. The wildflowers were in bloom, the sky was slightly overcast, and we were just on the verge of golden hour! Best of all, I was accompanied by Alisha and David and their full-of-life four-year-old, Hannah for this family photography session.
The word that kept coming to mind as I captured and edited these photos was “JOY!”
While Hannah napped in the car for a few minutes, we decided it was a perfect opportunity to take some photos of David and Alisha alone. There are several beautiful walking paths at White Lake with tall grass on either side, as well as Queen Anne’s Lace and other wildflowers that made for some beautiful framing and foreground. Typically I take photos of mom and dad at the very end of the session while kids play nearby, but this was a welcome change!

We went to get Hannah and after a few moments of grogginess, here she was in full force! These two photos above are a couple of my favorite images from the whole session. Again, sheer JOY!!

Hannah with Daddy. Twirling, hugging, being thrown in the air. What could be more fun?!

And some of my absolute favorites of Hannah and her mommy. Even when all kids want to do is hide in mama’s dress where they know they are safe, there are such beautiful photo opportunities!

I love these shots of the family by the white fence (flower in hand, of course).

And oh how I adore these three images with all of the hands and smiles! The togetherness and the genuine joy captured in these moments make my heart so happy.
We ended our session quietly near the water. Genuine, warm, timeless images. This is what I love love LOVE to capture!
